We've been thinking of getting a dog and Shelties are high on my list of possibilities.You do know that Shelties have to herd? If you don't have sheep, they'll find something else to herd, and if there are no herdable living creatures in the house, they'll go crazy from boredom (possibly after tearing up your house).
Just what I've read -- I've never had a herding dog myself.
