Two trick pony
I realize that my posts have become about only two things -- work and gaming -- recently. Unfortunately, that's pretty much all I'm doing these days. I get wound up at work and then go home and decompress with games. The upside is that we'll have lots and lots of unlocked Rock Band songs the next time someone wants to come over and play.
I have nothing prepared for KASF. No new clothes, no new music, no new artifacts. I'll be singing with Alle Psallite and jamming with the Ravenstreet Singers, of course, but nothing solo. I feel rather meh about the SCA right now. I love my office, but I don't really want to go to events and think about all the nasty politics going on. Honestly? I think my next SCA event after this weekend will be Pennsic.

Hey I'm right there with you. I think my next event will be Pennsic as well. I still want to go with you to KASF this weekend. I'll see if I can get in touch with you later about the details. I just want to chill out Saturday. I'm working on a project but it may not be finished by Saturday.

Mapquest was trying to tell me to go I-66 East to I-495, then I-270 and somehow onto Georgia Ave, through Olney and, basically, B.F.E., to some spot north of I-70 and West of Baltimore. WTF?!?
I'm with you on the political crap. Someone Make It STOP!!!

1. I-270 to exit 16, MD-27 (Father Hurley Blvd/ Ridge Rd); turn right on 27 north (Ridge Rd). At Damascus, make sure to turn left to stay on 27 north. See *** below.
2. US-15 north from Leesburg up to the far side of Frederick; take exit 17 for MD-26 east. Stay on 26 east for about 16 miles to Taylorsville, then turn left on MD-27 north. (Or, go to Frederick, get on I-70 east, and take that to Mount Airy and route 27 north.) See *** below.
***27 takes you all the way to Westminster; shortly before hitting town turn right on Kate Wagner Rd, first left on Gist Rd, then eventually turn left onto the new road into the parking lot.

From further south (i.e. our place) it makes more sense to use choice #1 unless we have a significant reason to hit Sterling, Leesburg, or Frederick on the way. Traffic isn't likely to be much of an issue late Sat. morning.

So... my sympathies on the politics... that stuff sucks.

Easy-peasy way to deal with this is don't go to royal progress events. My opinion is that most peers are tired of this and would like to have an enjoyable event without the kerfuffle.

Were you thinking about every-other-year Gulf Wars attendance, too? I may start going next year.

Part of this is because I can't take the time to go to certain events I might otherwise like to attend... and part is because I have family and other things that will have me going out of kingdom several times between now and then.

It's actually kind of nice not being in the Hub of Gossip (tm). Rest and when the inclination strikes you, return with joy. That's what I plan on doing.
Special on burnt toast?
