Four for four
Jan. 7th, 2010 09:31 amIt took a lot of bargaining to get out of bed this morning. Oh, do my arms ache. And I dreamt of exercising. That counts, right? No? I didn't think so. Anyway, I hit the snooze button which put me getting out the door at 7:25 instead of 7:15. That ten minutes makes all the difference, I'm telling you: traffic was heavier and the locker room was more crowded. Yuck.
Interesting tidbit: the treadmills have fans. Huh. I'd never noticed that. I've been slogging along, feeling like I was going to die from overheating and wanting nothing more than a cool breeze and it's been there all along.
This getting-up-early thing has necessitated another lifestyle change: I have to be in bed by 11pm. Not just in bed, but horizontal with lights out. I know I've been oversleeping for the past six months or so; I typically got between nine and ten hours of sleep a night. That's not right. Now I'm getting a fairly solid eight hours per night and I feel so much more alert. I am hopeful that I can continue this schedule when school starts next week.
Some other changes: breakfast every day with light yogurt, orange juice, and protein; big veggie salad at lunch with soup plus some crackers so I don't go into a carb crash; banana for afternoon snack. I've cut out my Snapples and sodas and am working on getting my water consumption back up to par.
Huh. You know, I didn't think I was doing that much but I accidentally changed a lot of things all at once. Oops. Well, if I can stop biting my nails after 36 years of that nasty habit, I can do anything.
