Australian heat wave

The effects of the heat wave and wildfires raging through Australia are breaking my heart. My stepdad has been getting some touching photos from the homeland depicting how the heat is affecting the local wildlife.



This little guy wandered onto the patio of a friend in South Australia. Wild koalas don't normally get so close to humans.

The poor things. I'm simply numb reading the reports of the fires. I have friends in Melbourn and I hope that they are ok. I wish the firefighters could get ahead of the flames and that whoever is responsible for setting these fires is brought to justice.

Melbourne is fine - but an awful lot of rural victoria isn't. :-/

Looking at that photo of the koala drinking out of the sports bottle, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I think the latter is winning....
