Tent painting

I said I was going to paint my pavilion today and I am. So far I have painted two-inch wide stripes along six of the ten seams of one wall. Due to space constraints in the craft room (and the size of the panels in between seams), I can paint only three seams and then I have to break to let the paint dry. After my first break, which was extended for lunch, I returned to the craft room and discovered that something extra had been added to one and a quarter panels:

Little feet, 7/3/09. Little feet, 7/3/09.
Someone decided to embellish my pavilion walls while I took a lunch break.
More little feet, 7/3/09. More little feet, 7/3/09.
The culprit walked up and down one panel of the pavilion.

I immediately blamed Margie, of course, but her feet are spotless plus she was downstairs begging for bits of my lunch. Kit's feet are also spotless and she's been crashed out in a catbed in the bedroom windowsill. Basil, on the other hand, is MIA. I'd wager quite a lot that there's blue paint stuck in his pawpad fur.

What now? I'm just going to have to live with it, I think. It's unfortunate that this happened to the "clean" wall. The other wall has a panel upon which a dyed dress bled during a rain storm a couple Pennsics ago (an object lesson that rain water has a different pH from tap water). Or maybe I'll use one of the cats as a stamp and put paw prints on all of the canvas.

By the way, the craft room door is firmly closed during this break.

HAHAHAHA! See, they love to he'p.

Um, I'm thinking you might need to make a heraldry change?

That's it! Pippa needs a new badge. I should see if a semy of blue pawprints is available.

You should've seen Margie he'pping while I pinned my giornea fabric and lining together. I think I've found all the pins she stole.

Don't you love cats....

If the paint was still damp, you could scrub it off with some water and elbow grease, and it might be worth giving it a try. I'm thinking that might take some of it off. You can always cover the most offending bits with some white paint.

This may need to be posted to [livejournal.com profile] sewing_cats. It's not technically sewing, but it's still a project that you'd sewed yourself.

You know, everyone at Pennsic who sees that panel will instantly say to themselves..."I miss my cats. I wonder how they are doing?"

[identity profile] valkyr8.livejournal.com 2009-07-03 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
This is also true. And everyone with cats with smile and giggle a bit and totally understand!

(love your kitty picture, used to have an all white cat)

This isn't the shade fly; this is my pavilion from Four Seasons Tentmasters. :)

I should know better than to leave the four-leggeds unsupervised. Oh well.

Unfortunately, the pawprints were already dry when I discovered them. I can see where the cat stepped on the stripe and initially picked up the paint. Now that I've passed the OH NO THE TENT IS RUINED phase, the prints make me chuckle.

I like that point of view. The prints are rather funny.

If you find Basil, you need to take a photo of his blue toe-hawks. Punk rock kitty!

They are not just "rather funny."

They are freakin' hilarious. I laughed quite hard when I saw the photos.

It immediately reminded me of all the different projects that our cats have stretched out on, rearranged pieces to their liking, and just generally contributed their "kitty sensibilities" to the process. While it may frustrate you at the time, it will always make you smile when you look back on it.

Yeah, what he said -- they're hysterical!

Well, I guess they're hysterical to us observers; I can imagine your initial discovery was slightly less amusing... :)

Oh yes. After the descent of the red mist, I had visions of gloves lined with soft black fur.
