Getting close

I filled out my healthcare directive this weekend and made my wishes known to both Hubbyfink and Mom. I wrote up my will last night and now need to scrounge up a couple of witnesses so that it's all legal and stuff. It feels kind of morbid doing all of this, but it's better to have these documents drawn up and not need them rather than the alternative.

I've hit the frightened portion of the pre-op mindset. Everything will probably be just fine, but that doesn't mean that I'm not still a little bit scared. Because my gall bladder surgery was an emergency procedure, I didn't have time to fret. Being in a haze of not-quite consciousness thanks to the sweet, sweet Dilaudid helped, too.

This morning marked the start of the pre-op liquid diet which means I said good-bye to solid food for the next month and a half or so. It'll all be worth it in a year. I have so many friends who have been through this procedure and it's been good for the majority of them. It'll be good for me, too, I tell myself three times.

Always good to have every thing in order but I am sure you will be fine
Also I am only 2 miles away if you or Scott need anything

Thank you, I appreciate that. If everything goes well, I should only be in the hospital overnight and back home sometime Saturday. ~fingers crossed~

Very good luck with the procedure, and all of the hard work after it. But, yes, I've known a number of folks for whom this has been an incredibly positive thing for them to do,

Ok - I'm a nurse though - you probably can't show me anything too upsetting, but that's considerate of you anyway.

Incidentally, I know of one person several years ago who DID take very graphic after photos of herself after surgery (a bariatric procedure) and posted them on the internet. You're right - not everyone's 'cup of tea'. :)
