The closet portion of the re-org is done and I'm very hapy with the result:

Dreadful, 3/14/09 Dreadful, 3/14/09
The shameful state of my sewing room closet.
Empty closet, 3/14/09. Empty closet, 3/14/09.
Clean slate!
New closet, 3/15/09. New closet, 3/15/09.
Freshly painted and newly installed. The color is a little bit more green in real life.
Heavenly, 3/16/09. Heavenly, 3/16/09.
Organizational bliss. Aaaaah.
Height, 3/16/09. Height, 3/16/09.
That G-street bag from the first picture is stashed in the basket at the very top of the shelves.

I've weeded out a few items, but nearly everything is back in the closet. The hat boxes will most likely move out of the closet and onto the new-to-me Ivar shelf and I can stash less attractive storage solutions in the closet.

Oops - link finally worked. Yup - as bad as I remembered it. However, your fu is strong, and it now looks purdy :-)

The system in my current closet is dying - how hard were these to install? I'd really like some upright shelving in there in addition to the bars.

They're not too difficult to assemble. The hardest parts are moving the box from store shelf to the room in which you'll use it :) and putting the top half of the unit onto the bottom half, if you do those parts by yourself. I think it took about 2, maybe 2.5, hours to assemble (including drawers) and install each unit.

My units are the ClosetMaid Selectives from Home Depot. I used the T4 (25" wide) in the craft room and the T3 (16" wide) in the bedroom. The T4 has a couple more drawer options than the T3, but I'm happy with both.
