For years I've been layering a feather bed atop my air mattress at camping events. I thought it'd add some warmth (sort of) and fluffy comfort (definitely) between my body and the bag o' air. I wound up buying a king size feather bed when I got home from Land Grab because there was a lot of space between the sides of the queen size air mattress and our queen size camp bed frame. I thought the larger feather bed would help to fluff out the mattress area so we wouldn't bang legs and hips and arms against the bed frame when getting in and out of bed. This hare-brained scheme worked like a charm, but it left me with a queen size feather bed with no use.

Then I remembered, shortly after getting back home last week, that our regular mattress keeps hurting my shoulders and hips. Hmmm... What if I tried that bedless feather bed? Huzzah, it too worked like a charm. Hubbyfink is pleased as punch, as well, and has been sleeping much better. I have to say that the aesthetics of a fluffy bed aren't too bad either.

Hmmm....Maybe I should try a feather bed on my air mattress for Pennsic next year. I hate sleeping on an air mattress, and since I sized down this year I did not have my huge-o foam matress to sleep on. (At home I sleep on a Tempurpedic and am totally addicted to it).
